Committed to safety, Oyu Tolgoi delivers 2,000,000 man-hours LTI free
A strong safety culture, dedicated site leadership and hard work has seen Thiess’ team at Oyu Tolgoi achieve 2,000,000 man-hours LTI free.
Early last year the team proudly celebrated 1,000,000 man-hours LTI free and were committed to keeping this safety trend going. Rallying together they embedded key themes from our Group One HSE Culture framework including risk management, standards, communication and involvement.
Thiess’ Oyu Tolgoi Project Manager, Paul Miles is proud of the team for achieving this important safety milestone.
“The achievements of the team at Oyu Tolgoi are something we can all be proud of. It’s a testament to the daily efforts of our entire team over three years.”
“Our focus now turns towards the future and a strategy has been developed to reinvigorate our efforts.”
“The March to 3,000,000 campaign has been developed to ensure we maintain our focus and stretch ourselves to be better at what we do, striving to keep everyone safe every day.”
This is an impressive safety achievement given the unique challenges for this project which include remoteness, climatic extremes, language and translation, cultural differences and the complexity of the construction of the declines.
“Our project team can be proud of this achievement, it’s a great foundation for our future success.” Thiess’ HSE manager, Brad Bennett said.
Congratulations to everyone involved in achieving this great result!
